Rolston returns to Devils, Campbell to Windy City

July 1, 2008   ·     ·   Jump to comments

Before I head out, the Devils have brought back Brian Rolston. The original Devil who emerged into a star elsewhere including with the Wild should immediately upgrade New Jersey’s center position. They badly needed a player of his calibre. It’s an excellent addition. Though from what I’m told, they did give him four years at an average of about five million per. I just am not crazy about going that long with players.

Speaking of which, Brian Campbell got eight years and a ridiculous amount of money from the Blackhawks. It’s an average of over seven million per season. Are they crazy?!?!?!?!?! I guess so!

The Rangers added forwards Aaron Voros and Patrick Rismiller. Both are third/fourth liners who bring grit. Voros has great size and was a former New Jersey pick who did well with the Wild while Rismiller is a solid penalty killing forward who played for San Jose. Energy types who the fans should take to. They’re also close to re-signing defenseman Michal Rozsival.

More later.
