And the beat goes on

As if there weren’t enough Devils crowding the injured list, word came down late this morning that Paul Martin will also miss tonight’s game against the Sabres due to ‘upper body soreness’.  Anssi Samela was called up for tonight’s game to take Martin’s place in the lineup.  Odds are the defensive pairings will be Salvador-Oduya, White-Mottau and Brookbank-Salmela.  Just the kind of D you want to throw out with Kevin Weekes making his first NHL start in 10 months, against a good team in Buffalo at that.

Speaking of the goaltending situation, there’s no new news yet regarding Martin Brodeur other than he’s definitely out for tonight’s game at the Rock.  MRI, x-rays and assorted other tests were done yesterday on Brodeur’s ‘bruised elbow’ but the results aren’t yet known.
