Rangers suffer Election Nightmare

Well, that’s all I could really say. I’m quite sick and what they call hockey didn’t exactly help. So this won’t be too long. Simply put: One team came ready to play a smart 60 minutes. The other had way too many passengers. An AHL caliber Islander roster completely out classed the Rangers winning 2-1.
Regardless of the score and tedious shots on goal, they don’t even remotely tell the story of a lifeless team which bored a dead MSG building to death. If the NHL was looking to sell our sport based on what’s supposed to be one of the better rivalries in the game, it was nowhere to be found. This was the kinda snooze fest which would send potential new customers packing wondering how Dolan Inc. can get away with overcharging with prices over 40 bucks for a cheapseat unless you’re a full season subscriber who gets the benefit of receiving a significant value thankfully or we wouldn’t be still going.
Now, look. This isn’t about sour grapes. By far the Islanders were the better team more determined and it’s about time they gave Scott Gordon something to smile about. That it’d be gritty hard workers while shorthanded from Nate Thompson and Richard Park victimizing one of our most overrated overpaid stiffs on D in Michal Rozsival seemed very appropriate on a special night of historic change for our country moving forward.
At least Rozsival was visible enough to be booed by a fanbase who’s fed up already with his soft play and flat out refusal to shoot the puck while continuing to be a worst nightmare on the point. Has anyone seen Wade Redden? When exactly does this information get through to our coach? I don’t want to hear from the Pro-Renney supporters. Enough! If you really sit down and think about it, can you see this team winning anything big under his watch?
I respect the man who is well stated and in tune with the club’s problems in ugly defeats like the last two. However, he doesn’t make the right adjustments. They’ve played enough games. Rozsival can’t be on the top PP unit. And how is our most skilled young forward Nikolai Zherdev left out of the first unit for older vets who don’t have as much finishing ability?
Heck. For all the sarcastic banter in our section (411) that the coach overplays the fourth line, wouldn’t it take some sheer guts to stick them out for a PP shift? Why the heck not? Could they perform any worse than the list of hired guns who they continue to send out making the real core fan sick to their stomachs.
A fiery coach would have the balls to do it which we know is not in Renney’s character. Here’s my final pearl of wisdom on this overrated bunch with the most points in the league:
There have already been three instances where I said, “En—ough” picked up and left for the car with the outcome still in doubt.
vs. Buf
vs. Dal who has stunk it up against everyone else due to new team ornament Sean Avery rubbing even a few teammates the wrong way
And tonight after the club earned a power play which one liquored up fan who was bleeding our team colors a little too much had faith that they’d get it right. That was Park’s SHG which I didn’t see but heard moans from security as I exited.
Sometimes, you can just tell when your team doesn’t have it. Let’s just say I’ve been going long enough now to have figured out when it’s not happening. And I was already not feeling well but stuck it out and will probably pay dearly. At least that tall tea with honey was good.
Full marks to the Isles who came ready and wanted it a lot more than the home club who either didn’t learn much from the frantic final half of that Leaf onslaught or were put to bed by their opponent.
Three Stars
3rd Star-Nate Thompson, NYI (SHG, first of NHL career-congrats kid)
2nd Star-Richard Park, NYI (SHG less than five mins later)
1st Star-Michal Rozsival, NYR
Joey MacDonald, NYI (35 saves)
Maybe tomorrow, I’ll have more energy and give you some more input. Until then. Later.
