Winter Classic Footage

January 2, 2009   ·     ·   Jump to comments

It hasn’t even been a day yet since the 2nd annual Winter Classic concluded with the Red Wings prevailing over the host Blackhawks 6-4 before a packed house at Wrigley Field.

However, you can find some early footage of the game. So, in no particular order starting with a chilling rendition of the national anthem by Jim Cornelison taken from the stands, check out what we found:

Just listening to the thunderous reception the American anthem got near the end gave me chills. What an atmosphere!

The best aspect was watching the teams come from the dugout and meet at home plate. Man. How cool was that?!?!?!?!?! :-D

This was the big Seabrook hit on Cleary knocking him over into the Blackhawks bench. It would be really something if some lucky fan shot that giving us an even better perspective.

This gives us a better idea just how a few Hawks prepared for the cold winter conditions.

This is pretty cool. Credit to AOL Fanhouse for all the awesome shots of the rink and surroundings from up above down the third baseline.

Kane gets IT! This was/is a great idea. Especially when it involves Nike and designing his own skates for such a showcase event.

Who knew that last year’s rink was relocated to East Aurora, NY? Did NBC even mention it? It’s pretty cool that Fredonia College students got a chance to play on it.

So much work goes into preparing any event. Especially if an arena is shared like the Knicks/Rangers. But with it being outdoors and on a historic ball field, even more goes into it. Amazing dedication. Thanks to all the workers who never get their due!

I’m sure we’ll put up some more stuff later.
