Guerin on the move?

February 28, 2009   ·     ·   Jump to comments

Islander captain Bill Guerin was a late scratch before the drop of the puck versus Buffalo at Nassau Coliseum.

According to TSN, it appears Guerin could be on the move though the destination still is unknown. He does have a no-trade clause which would have to be waived to go elsewhere.

In 61 games during his second season on the Island, the 38 year-old power forward has tallied 16 goals and 20 assists for 36 points along with five power play goals and 63 penalty minutes.

Recently, Guerin scored his 400th career goal on Dec.26 versus the Maple Leafs. In 1,168 NHL games, the Worcester, Massachusetts native has scored 403 goals and 396 assists totaling 799 points one point shy of 800 during a solid 16-year career that’s included winning a Stanley Cup with the Devils (1994-95) playing with six other teams (Edm, Bos, Dal, Stl, SJ, NYI).

In two seasons with the Isles, he finishes with 80 points (39-41-80). The question is who will be the eighth team be?

We’ll have to wait and see.
