Other Stuff

April 27, 2009   ·   Derek Felix   ·   Jump to comments

In case anyone was looking for other stuff coming out of Game 6, The Journal News own Rick Carpinello had some of the interesting variety over at the well respected Rangers Report.

That included Jim Schoenfeld revealing that Brandon Dubinsky needed tetanus shot following the game due to Washington defenseman Shaone Morrisonn biting him during a scrum in which our center somehow got an additional 10 after the appropriate boarding and rough minors.

Equally as disturbing was that thug Donald Brashear almost instigated a fight during the pregame warmups with scratched enforcer Colton Orr. Then he got away with his high elbow to Blair Betts probably concussing him.

So, at the end of the game, of course it’s perfectly okay for veteran referee Bill McCreary and Brashear to share a laugh. Perhaps McCreary is on the Cap payroll. You can’t make it up.

And finally, the disturbing comments from Schoenfeld indicting the no-shows:

“We had some guys who were locked in and ready to go and we had some other guys who wanted to test the water.”

It doesn’t get any more blunt than that. As for Game 7, he went onto making a speech about how he doesn’t believe there’s any player in the NHL who doesn’t believe they can’t win such a game also adding:

“It doesn’t matter who’s in, who’s out. The task at hand is the task at hand. We have to find a way to get it done or it’s over. It’s that simple … I think our guys have enough character, have enough courage, have enough want to get it done. If not, what’s the sense of even going to Washington?”

Ranger captain Chris Drury also made an interesting assessment of what’s been a crazy season.

“We’ve been booed at home, we changed coaches at midseason, now we’ve got to go play a Game 7 on the road. Given what this group has been through, we should be ready for anything.”

We’ll get a good indication early tomorrow.

Damn, I thought someone was kidding when I first heard about a tetanus shot. That series has been scary intense on and off the ice.
