Zherdev to sign with KHL club? Net!

It looks like Nikolai Zherdev is headed home. A week following the Rangers walking away from his arbitration award, the Russian enigma is said to be signing with KHL club Salavatovo Yuleav Ufa.

The club also employs Alexander Radulov and Alexander Perezhogin. Quoting The Manic Ranger’s Ryan McFadden:

Zherdev and Radulov are perfect for each other.

We couldn’t agree more. And so, Zherdev who tied for the Ranger lead in scoring with 58 points (23-35-58)  last season took the easy way out. At least for Glen Sather who cut his losses, he looks good for a change. Too bad it cost Fedor Tyutin and all we have left in the cupboard is Tinman.

What ashame. Zherdev certainly had the talent but just not the drive needed to be an NHL superstar. See ya later Nik!

UPDATE: Now, there are reports that the Zherdev camp are denying it. Doesn’t anything come easy with this guy?

FINAL UPDATE: Apparently, the rumors were false. The Salvatovo Yuleav assistant coach Igor Zakharkin denied it claiming it was Zherdev’s agent trying to increase his client’s market value. Ugh. Are there any decent agents out there? Credit to Beyond The Blueshirts for clearing things up.
