The Sean Avery Rules

Apparently even in a meaningless exhibition, the Sean Avery Rules are in effect. How else to explain a Ranger goal being wiped out for one of the cheesiest calls ever.

He waved his stick at a Vinny Prospal shot headed in and got nabbed for a phantom goalie interference near the end of the first. Somehow, a wave of the stick at the puck was interpreted as Avery wiping out Yann Danis who had no chance to prevent it from going in.

Even worse, Mike Mottau was allowed to sucker punch Avery and got zilch while the presumed guilty No.16 somehow came away with a double minor. Way to go stripes! No wonder we refer to them as three blind mice.

At the end of one, the Devils lead 1-0 on a David Clarkson power play tally. He put in a puck off a broken play setup by rookie Nicklas Bergfors. Dainius Zubrus made the key hustle play keeping it alive. Who did he beat? None other than Brian Boyle. Why did they give away a third round pick for this loser? In one period, Patrick Rismiller showed more.

Ales Kotalik took another bad penalty which led to the lone Devil tally in a period they dominated even getting twice as many shorthanded chances as a Ranger power play. Guess old habits are hard to break.

Impressing for the guys wearing Satan black and red were Bergfors and Rod Pelley. We’ll have more later as will Hasan who is in attendance for this one.

Pack comeback to edge Lowell: In the early matinee between the kids, the Wolf Pack defeated Lowell 4-3 in a shootout. Dale Weise scored the tying goal and all three Hartford shooters scored including Corey Locke, Paul Crowder and Andres Ambuhl.
