Just read over on the reliable former Islander PR man Chris Botta’s Twitter this really pathetic info:

Islanders announce they are not printing the 2009-10 media guide for the, uh, media. Team announcers also have to pay $10 for press meal. Oy

In the words of one John McEnroe, You Cannot Be Serious!!!!! I can’t even find the words. I mean good God. This is flat out scary. It looks extremely bad. Media guides are always distributed to press during the season. I have countless copies from my ESPN stints. I am stunned beyond belief. Wonder how bad it’ll be with Phoenix? Never mind.

Mr. Botta also reports that tickets are still available for Saturday’s opener featuring John Tavares’ debut versus Sid The Kid and the Pens. They’re even offering a lower bowl VIP seat and Tavares tee for $149.95. Uh. I did some investigating on Islander prices and in a word, nuts. The cheap seats are reasonably priced at 19 bucks. However, everything else is between $40-175.

What we also discovered is that plenty of tix are around for the Oct.12 Columbus Day game versus the Kings. You can find great deals on the Islander Ticket Exchange. That actually might be worth checking out.
