In a few minutes, John Tavares and the Islanders will try again for that elusive first win in a traditional Columbus Day home tilt versus the Kings. Hopefully, it will go a lot better than how Saturday finished in Beantown. Speaking of which, the Bruins are already down 2-zip to Matt Duchene (assist) and the Avs in the other special Monday matinee.

Happy Turkey Day to our friendly neighbors over the border! Gobble gobble.

Two other Battle clubs are in action later tonight with the Rangers going for five in a row versus the bumbling Maple Leafs, who figure to come in with a little edge. Don’t expect it to be easy. We should at least get to see Colton Orr take on Donald Brashear. Meanwhile, the Devils look to make it a perfect road trip at Alex Ovechkin and the Capitals, who should be angry after losing to the Rangers and Red Wings in succession. Figure MB30 to get plenty tested. The Devs are happy to have legend Scott Stevens as part of the coaching staff as Jacques Lemaire explains of his former pupil.
