Video Of Day: How Not To Stop A Puck by Cristobal Huet

On a football Sunday with absolutely zero puck as we get ready for the battle of unbeatens between the Giants and Saints, we bring you today’s hilarious Video of the Day. We’re calling it “How Not To Stop A Puck,” by Cristobal Huet. It was in the first week of the season that FAN690′s Bill Waters ragged on the Chicago netminder for how brutal he was.

It’s true that the former Hab is a liability in net for the Original Six Blackhawks, who otherwise boast a good team that can fill it up. Fresh off a Western Conference Final appearance, many believe these Hawks featuring Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews are ready to challenge for the Cup. However, the all important issue of goaltending could haunt them all year. Unless Antti Niemi is a miracle worker, they’ll rely on Huet and his ridiculous $5.625 million salary which has two more seasons after this one. Kinda makes Michal Rozsival’s fiver look normal.

Huet’s former teammate Nikolai Khabibulin had a huge gaffe of his own in an inauspicious Oiler debut that proved costly. At least the Bulin Wall can stop the puck. We now present Huet’s rendition of how not to make a save off a Stephane Robidas dump in, courtesy of 2-Man’s Scott Mackie (Crasher), who also seemed to do a Jason sound effect adding to the humor. Though judging from Joel Queeneville’s expression at 11-12 seconds, there was nothing funny about it. Especially since it cost his team a point. Well, Halloween’s around the corner!
