Glencross gets three games

November 9, 2009   ·     ·   Jump to comments

Earlier today, the NHL ruled on the dirty hit by Curtis Glencross that concussed Chris Drury Saturday. He was suspended three games. Obviously not enough for a dangerous blow with our captain prone.

What would you expect from a league that talks tough but rarely backs it up? Just think. If Glencross was a star, he’d probably have gotten off scot free. Unfortunately, that’s what we’re dealing with. Colin Campbell is a bad sheriff who doesn’t get it. So, Glencross sits out three while Drury misses significant time due to another concussion. Oh well.

I think Newsday’s Steve Zipay summed it up best over on Twitter. Until the league makes an example of someone giving them at least 10 games for such cheapshots, players will continue to disrespect each other. Never has the game had such little respect where such reckless hits are a frequent occurrence, KO-ing competitors.

It’s kill or be killed. An alarming development for the game we love. While others come up with convenient excuses coming off as NHL apologists, we choose to tell it like it is.
