Ovechkin Returns, Caps visit Garden tonight

November 17, 2009   ·   Derek Felix   ·   Jump to comments

NEWSFLASH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just in case you were sleeping like Rip Van Winkle, the NHL and Versus wanted everyone to know that:

ALEXANDER OVECHKIN RETURNS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! REPEAT! ALEXANDER THE GREAT!!!!! THE GREAT 8!!!!!!! OVIE RETURNS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Apparently, nothing else matters. Who cares about his gifted ‘mates Nick Backstrom and Oscar Award winning diver Alex Semin. Who cares about Mike Green and his big slapshot? Who cares about Brooks Laich and Tomas Fleischmann, who make this team scary good? Ahhh…and that Perreault kid also looks good. Not too much for our Rangers to worry about.

Oh btw…did we mention Marian Gaborik, who was supposed to be out for the season already, is second in scoring behind Anze Kopitar? But who cares?!?!?!?!!! Not Versus and definitely not the NATIONAL HOCKEY LEAGUE as Bill Pidto refers to ‘em. The Rangers apparently are second class citizens even in their own building tonight. Oh. And we are wearing our Russian letter Obechkun 8. Does it make us hypocritical? Somewhat. But we still love the kid. It’s not his fault they’re superpromoting his return. He plays the game the way it’s meant to be played and has the persona to match. The best player on the planet.

And excuse us but how did Sid The Kid perform minus Geno? Not so wonderful we hear. Like magic though, he returns and so do the Pens. Kinda makes ya wonder. Russians dominate the sport. Pavel Datsyuk’s also beter than Crosby. Shhhhh…better keep it down.

So, what do the Rangers have to do to win? Play 60 minutes. It’s really not complicated. And get a virtuoso performance from King Henrik.  Oh. And Gabby stealing the show with Vinny Prospal like they did in the first match-up (YES WE WON THERE!) will be a key. Calling Cally and Avery. If you’d like to assist in the scoring department, step up anytime now.

We’re leaving from Staten Island AKA Shaolin now due to Theoren Fleury signing his outstanding book, “Playing With Fire” at Borders at 2 Penn Plaza by MSG. It should be fun. Also, for any puckers, don’t forget Stan Fischler and Chico Resch will also be signing their new book on the Devils, Islanders, Flyers and Rangers over by Cosby’s across the street from Dunkin’ Donuts. So, lots of fun for local hockey fans.

As we head out, here’s a little video of Gabby from early on that includes his big two over Ovechkin and those Caps:
