Picture of the day: Devils scratches

November 25, 2009   ·   Hasan   ·   Jump to comments

Maybe I have a morbid sense of humor to find the scratch list funny…but I’ve just never seen it go eight deep before.  I have to admit thinking if one more guy gets banged up, how are they going to fit nine names?  Actually only about five or six of the scratches are injury-related.  Maybe Illka Pikkaranen or Pierre Luc-Letourneau Leblond are healthy scratches (or not), I’ve seriously lost track of those two at this point.

I do know Rod Pelley is a healthy scratch much to his consternation – earth to Rod, eight points and a -12 in 87 NHL games ain’t exactly going to get you a free pass into the lineup forever, especially without any other real plus skills (faceoff wins, size, physical play).  Among the walking wounded, perhaps Rob Niedermayer will be the first to return, maybe as soon as this weekend.  Or maybe not, who knows.

Perhaps sometime tomorrow I’ll actually get around to doing a recap of the Devils’ tense 3-1 win over Ottawa (despite all of the above MIA’s) that snapped their three-game losing streak and extended the Devils’ home winning streak to five.  Just too tired tonight.  But I just had to express my humor at this picture.

I may have to have a sequel at this point, they’re probably gonna lower the font some more now that Clarkson’s out for probably weeks at least :P
